We are proud to present our new bags. Same roast style, new look.
Bright, sweet, juicy, clean, fruity, aromatic. All words we use and get excited over when we taste and drink coffee today. I remember my first taste of coffee as a child, an espresso on holiday in Europe, the experience was one of bitterness. Years later it was one espresso which changed everything and was the driving force in setting up Round Hill Roastery. We chose to fully embrace colour some months ago when we designed our new bags, we wanted to reflect this transition from bitterness to sweetness with colour.
Pink is brightness, acidity and sweetness.
Blue is clean, pure and elegant.
Two years ago we introduced pink and blue to our bags separating Espresso roasts from Filter roasts. We have always roasted espresso and filter differently as we look for different results in the cup with the same coffee.
Pink bags are our espresso roasts which have a little more development which essentially means they are roasted for more time and have a higher end temperature. We do this to balance the acidity, create sweetness and create body. They can be used to make a more full bodied filter coffee also. Blue bags are our filter roasts which we roast lighter. They stay in the roaster for less time and have a lower end temperature. We do this to really highlight the natural flavour of the farm and region, we recommend them served black.
We have also used the opportunity to reduce the amount of information on the label, this is a reflection of our single farm, single co-op approach. The hard work in creating this unique flavour profile comes from farm level and we chose to highlight the farm name, country of origin, producer and tasting notes. Round Hill Roastery adopts a fun and playful approach with coffee, you may have tried our Inspector Norse and more recently Knight Life. This is our style and deep down we are all just kids craving sweetness!
