Brew guide

At Round Hill we start every day with the Moccamaster. This iconic brewer delivers hand poured quality filter coffee time and time again, perfect for a lazy weekend or serving guests.

For a better brew run a bit of water through while weighing out your coffee to give everything the moccamaster a preheat.

If you are using a Comandante grinder we would recommend 25-35 clicks if you are using a Wilfa we would reccomend setting your grinder in between at filter and aeropress. Our recipe works to a classic ratio of 60 grams of coffee per litre so can be scaled up or down. As always we would recommend our recipe as a guide so adjusting grind and dose a little to your personal taste is key to enjoyng your coffee.

  • 60 grams of coffee
  • 1 Litre of filtered water
  • Moccamaster No4 Paper / Filtropa No.4
  • Coffee Grinder
  • Digital Scale

Remove the lid and fill the Moccamaster to the line 1/1.

Rinse the paper to remove the papery taste.

Grind your coffee.  We recommend setting your grinder between filter and French Press if using a Wilfa Svart.

Remove the plastic basket and fill with your coffee.  We reccomend giving it a tap to create a level bed before placing back into the brewer and then press the on switch,

The Moccamaster will now start brewing and at this stage we like to give the coffee a delicate stir to improve the extraction.  Then replace the plastic cap.

Now simply wait.

Your brew will be finished when there is no more water in the chamber.  Do not remove the jug immediately as there will still be water in the brewing basket.  The whole brew should take 5-6 minutes.

Serve and enjoy.

The Moccamaster has a hot plate which will keep your coffee hot however transferring to a thermos will be much kinder to your coffee.
