Cleber Thiago Silva manages Sitio Cachoeirinha with his brother Fabio Andriel. They took over the family farm in 2008 to continue their legacy - the pair are third generation coffee farmers and their children are already integral to the operation, hoping to become the fourth.
The farm is located in the Mantiqueira de Minas region, a particularly beautiful area with optimal climate and soil conditions, sitting at 1350 metres above sea level. Sitio Cachoeirinha occupies a site of 15 hectares, 10 of which are dedicated to their 20,000 coffee trees. By Brazilian standards this is a fairly small farm, and by utilising mechanical methods the family are mostly able to operate without relying on additional seasonal labour. We’re so pleased to find such balance and clarity of flavour in this natural lot. This Red Catuai is clean, chocolatey and sweet. We first became aware of Cleber Thiago Silva and his farm through his more experimental lots, and the first coffees we bought from him were extended fermentation lots with a lot of funk, complexity and a heavy body.
