This coffee is the first we’ve bought through Omwani, an import company that works exclusively in East Africa. This coffee was a collaboration between Omwani and the Migoti coffee company based in Kayanza, Burundi. Migoti owns and operates a washing station which buys cherries from smallholders who grow coffee surrounding Lake Tanganyika.

The Migoti Coffee Company built its washing station in 2016 with on the side of Migoti Mountain, it has grown to process 300 tonnes of cherry each year. It has a small team of ten permanent staff as well as over 250 temporary workers who are employed during the coffee season from March to June.
