The coffee is grown by a community of farmers in the Yacuanquer area of Nariño, who have worked together for many years. Our importer is working with their exporter, who in turn is working with the local co- operative who has been working with the farmers and the pickers to make sure each days pickings are the best they can be. In return the price paid to the producer is 1.5 million Colombian pesos per 125kg. That is 50% more than the average internal price paid to producers in all of 2020. The deal is simple... more paid to the producers for quality...more pay to the pickers. We love this chain it is clear, traceable and scalable.
The coffee is a blend of three varietals Caturra, Castilllo and Colombia and is grown by 24 farmers. The coffees are all washed but they are often left to ferment for a day or two which leads to a wonderfully pulpy juicy coffee. Everyone in this chain benefits from this coffee. Super sweet cups of coffee at home through to well paid farmers and well paid pickers.
