Founded in 2017, the Benti Nenka Coffee Processing Station is located in the village of Benti Nenka, just south of Yirgacheffe. The station is renowned for its exceptional natural and anaerobic processing techniques. It serves as the central processing station for around 500 smallholder farmers, each typically managing 1.5-2 hectares of land surrounded by natural forest - these small farms may only have 120 or so coffee trees to tend to, at 1850 - 2100 masl.
The thriving agricultural communities surrounding the Benti Nenka Coffee Processing Station are built on collaboration and a strong spirit of mutual support. Their operations are informed by traditional communal labour systems, emphasising farmers assisting one another and sharing knowledge.
Seasonal buying is about seeing coffee as a crop not a commodity, buying in harmony with the growing seasons to enjoy coffee at its best. This kind of buying has always been the backbone of our business and it’s something we’ve improved and refined every year.
