Benti Nenka is a district in southern Ethiopia within the Oromia regional state, and coffee growing is intrinsic to the culture here. Farmers are typically smallholders with plot sizes averaging no more than a few hectares at impressively high altitudes. The farms are intercropped with other fruits and vegetables to expand land use, improve soil quality, plant health and biodiversity.
Our import partners Nordic Approach and their export partners EDN Ethiopian Coffee have been working with Benti Nenka for a long time. EDN Ethiopian Coffee are a vertically integrated company working to improve agronomic standards and maximise the benefit to the farmers and communities there. From processing through to export, their obsession with quality is evident in the world-class coffees they provide. This coffee is our first fresh crop Ethiopian release for summer and it is stunning. Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee and is known for it’s incredible variety of flavours and profiles. This is a beautiful example of what this region has to offer.
