Wildan Mustofa and his wife Atieq Mustikaningtyas own and operate the Frinsa Estate in the highlands of West Java. Since 2010, their obsession with quality and passion for processing has really set them apart. Frinsa Estate now encompasses a wet mill, a dry mill, 6 diverse growing plots from 4-60 hectares, and significant storage space. Wildan is also celebrated for his experimental fermentation methods - this coffee has been tank fermented underwater for 4 days before drying.
Frinsa Estate have total control of the production journey, from cherry selection through to fermentation. Coffees are meticulously separated by field location, cultivar and picking dates to form distinct lots, providing complete traceability. In collaboration with the coffee research centre, Frinsa Estate is also pioneering work with previously unknown cultivars, the flavour profiles of which are still being discovered. The whole estate is a testament to Wildan and Atieq’s passion for coffee.
Seasonal buying is about seeing coffee as a crop not a commodity, buying in harmony with the growing seasons to enjoy coffee at its best. This kind of buying has always been the backbone of our business and it’s something we’ve improved and refined every year.
