Paulo Agualetti Paulo Agualetti

Paulo Agualetti’s farm Sitio Água Fria spans just 4 hectares at 1250 masl in Divinolândia, Sao Paulo State. Paulo is a second-generation coffee grower, having learnt the craft and business from his father before establishing his own farm. When a small plot with ideal altitude, aspect and soil became available, he took it on and focussed his all his energy on producing high-scoring specialty coffee. Every element of production, from planting to processing, is carried out by Paulo, supported by his brother during harvest. Attention to detail, patience and consistency underpin every stage of his work.

Brazil is often associated with vast coffee farms, however in reality around 80% of its coffee is grown by smallholder producers. Many of these farmers lack direct access to exporters, and so sell their crop to cooperatives or larger producers to form ‘single estate’ lots. We sourced this single farm coffee through Cargo Coffee, who pride themselves on connecting these small scale farmers directly to roasteries, offering them direct access to markets that value full traceability.
