Santa Maria Collective is a regional expression of Huila, bringing together coffees grown across 5 smallholder plots in the Santa María area. Collective lots play an important role in specialty coffee: with almost all producers in Huila working less than 2 hectares, lots like this allow such producers to work at commercially viable volumes. For us as a roastery, they provide access to exceptional coffees that, by nature, prioritise quality over quantity.
It is one of several lots we have bought through Cuatro Vientos, a family-run export company founded in 2018 by the González family. Named after their first farm, Cuatro Vientos represents generations of coffee knowledge; General Manager Yonatan González is a third-generation producer who grew up on the family farm and continues his father’s legacy, with a strong focus on transparency and quality. Cuatro Vientos operates across Huila’s diverse landscapes, sourcing green coffee directly from smallhold producers in Acevedo, Algeciras, and Santa María. This geographical spread ensures fresh coffees are available for up to six months of the year.
